Make an impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a well-respected educational environment near Birmingham, AL. You’ll serve as a key resource in the district for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, fostering an inclusive classroom atmosphere and developing individualized education plans that meet each learner’s needs.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
• Meets Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements—or willingness to obtain them within designated timeframe
• Holds or is eligible for state-approved Deaf/Hard of Hearing licensure in Alabama
• Passion for supporting DHH learners in inclusive school settings
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with education teams and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction tailored to deaf and hard-of-hearing students
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals consistent with best practices in DHH education
• Serve as an advocate, consultant, and resource for staff and families
• Utilize a range of communication modes (including sign language as needed) to facilitate student learning
• Participate actively in IEP meetings and ongoing student progress review
• Adapt instructional materials and curriculum as needed to support accessibility
