Experience a rewarding opportunity to support students in their educational journey as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for a contract assignment. This flexible position allows you to make a meaningful impact while working just two days per week, totaling 16 hours. Beginning August 17th, 2026, and extending through June 4th, 2027, this role is designed for an educator passionate about fostering accessible learning environments for students with hearing differences.

As an integral partner in student success, you'll provide direct and consultative support to ensure all learners have the communication and academic tools they need to thrive.

Desired Qualifications & Skills:

  • Valid North Carolina Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) teaching license
  • Demonstrated expertise teaching or supporting deaf/hard of hearing students in K-12 settings
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families
  • Comfortable adapting materials and strategies to meet diverse student needs
  • Skilled in progress monitoring and documentation

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to deaf/hard of hearing students based on IEP goals
  • Consult with teachers and staff to facilitate inclusive classroom practices
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing input and recommendations
  • Adapt lessons and educational materials to be accessible and engaging
  • Provide guidance to families regarding communication strategies and resources
