Step into an impactful role supporting elementary students in a dedicated self-contained classroom. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of young learners significantly impacted by autism and intellectual disabilities. You'll be part of a collaborative educational environment with the support of two classroom assistants, fostering growth and achievement for each child.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Texas Special Education license EC-12 (must meet state requirements)
- Experience teaching students with autism and intellectual disabilities preferred
- Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills
- Ability to collaborate with team members including assistants and related service providers
- Commitment to maintaining compliance with credentialing requirements, including fingerprint background checks and drug screening
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained elementary classroom of approximately 8 students
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs
- Design engaging, adapted lessons and activities to promote academic, social, and emotional growth
- Supervise and guide two classroom assistants to ensure consistent support for students
- Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams regarding student progress
- Maintain detailed records and comply with all required documentation and reporting standards
