Make a lasting impact supporting students as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, serving a vibrant school community near Pinson, AL. You'll be considered the district’s Hearing Impaired teacher, playing a vital role in shaping students’ educational experiences and promoting equity in the classroom.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
  • Certification meeting Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements, or willingness to meet these within the designated timeframe
  • Appropriate licensure for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) teaching in the State of Alabama
  • Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, supporting their individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and instructional materials addressing diverse student needs
  • Assist with evaluation, progress monitoring, and documentation for each student
  • Advocate for accessibility resources and services within the school community
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
