Behavior Specialist in School Setting | Andover, Minnesota

Embark on a meaningful opportunity supporting students as a contract professional with dual responsibilities in high school special education and elementary behavioral intervention. In this position, your mornings will be spent as a Special Education Teacher at the high school level, where you'll foster academic growth and create individualized learning plans. Afternoons transition to working as a Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) at the elementary level—crafting behavior support strategies in collaboration with classroom teachers. Unlike a typical caseload-carrying role, the BIS function supports faculty through consultation, plan development, and targeted interventions.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid Minnesota Teaching License (Tier 3 or 4 required for Special Education Teachers)
• Proven experience or strong interest in both Special Education and Behavioral Intervention
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused environment
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to balance dual assignments
• Excellent communication skills for effective consultation and support

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction and support to high school students on a 0.5 FTE basis
• Partner with elementary teachers as a consultative BIS, crafting behavior plans and providing guidance on implementation
• Develop and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Maintain accurate records and provide progress updates to staff and families, as needed
• Attend staff meetings and trainings

This full-time, Monday through Friday assignment runs from August 25, 2026 to June 10, 2027, with a typical schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Shape your professional path while supporting both students and fellow educators.
