Mathematics General Education Teacher | Waukegan, Illinois

An established district is seeking two dedicated 8th Grade Math Teachers—one of whom will focus on Dual Language instruction—for contract roles running from August 17 through May 27, 2027. Based onsite, this is a chance to bring your expertise directly into the classroom and help students cultivate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills during a key academic year.

As an 8th grade math teacher, you’ll have the opportunity to create engaging lessons, foster mathematical reasoning, and support students’ academic growth. Those with dual language proficiency will also bridge understanding for English and Spanish-speaking students alike.

What we’re seeking:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
• Current Illinois Professional Educator License with supporting endorsements for Mathematics (dual language applicants should have appropriate credentials)
• Demonstrated experience with curriculum planning, instructional delivery, and classroom management
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• A collaborative spirit and a genuine enthusiasm for student development

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver dynamic math instruction aligned to 8th grade standards
• Design and implement creative lesson plans and assessments
• Utilize a range of strategies to meet diverse learning needs
• Maintain records of academic progress and communicate student growth to families
• For dual language role: support bilingual learning needs and foster a culturally responsive classroom
