Job Description
Step into an impactful role for the 2026-27 school year, supporting high school students in grades 9-12 as a Special Education Teacher within a contract position running from August 2026 to June 2027. This full-time opportunity features a Monday to Friday schedule, with hours from 7:10 am to 2:30 pm (students on site from 7:15 am to 2:15 pm), totaling 32-37.5 hours per week. Work within an A/B day schedule—four 90-minute blocks each day, and enjoy a dedicated prep period to plan quality instruction and interventions.
Your expertise in managing general special education caseloads is essential. You'll play a key role in providing specially designed instruction, developing and managing IEPs, conducting academic evaluations, and maintaining comprehensive data collection and progress monitoring systems. Building strong communication lines with families and collaborating closely with teachers and district staff are integral parts of your responsibilities. Candidates with experience in behavior management and transition planning will be especially valued.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
- Experience managing high school caseloads (grades 9-12)
- Proficiency in IEP development and specially designed instruction
- Academic evaluation and progress monitoring skills
- Strong data collection and organizational abilities
- Effective communicator and collaborative team player
- Preferred: Background in behavior management and transition planning
