Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language required
• Experience working as an ASL Interpreter in a school setting preferred
• Anticipated requirement: VQAS Level III or a minimum 3.5 EIPA score (final guidance pending)
• Ability to pass a background check with the Virginia Department of Social Services
• TB test required for state compliance
• Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism working with diverse students and staff

Principal Duties:

• Deliver accurate ASL interpretation for all classroom activities, discussions, and peer interactions
• Collaborate closely with teachers and support staff to ensure all academic and social communication needs are met
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional codes of ethics
• Adapt interpreting style to fit a variety of educational and developmental situations
• Participate as needed in meetings relating to student progress or accommodations
