Step into an engaging educational environment supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher in a co-teaching, inclusion-based setting. Two full-time contract positions are available, each offering the chance to make a meaningful difference during the academic year from August through May, with opportunities for training and pre-planning prior to the students’ return.

One position focuses on co-teaching Math and Science with 6th grade students, while the other involves co-teaching ELA and Science with 7th and 8th graders. Each caseload consists of approximately 10-12 students, with a variety of SPED eligibility categories represented, including Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, and EBD. Students enter the classroom supported by established behavior plans when needed, and all care needs exclude toileting and diapering responsibilities.

Key qualifications:

  • Active GaPSC SPED Consultative P-12 Teaching Endorsement is required
  • Experience working within co-teaching or inclusion settings preferred
  • Ability to implement IEPs and positive behavior interventions
  • Strong skills collaborating with general education teachers and related service professionals
  • Effective communicator with students, families, and team members
  • Organized and flexible in managing fluctuating caseloads

Main responsibilities:

  • Co-teaching Math/Science (6th grade) or ELA/Science (7th/8th grade) alongside general educators
  • Supporting student access to curriculum and fostering an inclusive classroom environment
  • Adapting instructional strategies to meet diverse learning profiles
  • Monitoring progress and maintaining documentation for IEP and data meetings
  • Collaborating with staff to ensure consistent support for all students
  • Participating in IEP meetings, professional development, and school events

These full-time positions follow a traditional school schedule, with new SPED training beginning July 29th and pre-planning activities set between July 31st and August 4th.
