Practice Location:
- Albany - 315 South Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208
- Troy - 2215 Burdett Ave, Troy, NY 12180
- Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; closed on weekends.
Compensation Package Highlights:
- Year 1 & 2 Salary: $550,000 - $600,000, plus a WRVU productivity model.
- Years 3-5 Salary: $650,000.
- Quality Bonus: Available.
- CME Allowance: $5,000.

Practice Overview:
Our organization is affiliated with a leading cancer center in Buffalo, NY. The hematology/oncology program will employ the physicians.
- Physicians typically see 15-18 patients per day (with the option to see more if desired).
- Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) manage around 10-12 patients daily.
- No patient responsibilities during hospital rounds.
- Average Daily Hospital Census: 20-30 patients.
- Office schedules and call loads are designed to be manageable and equitable.
- Average patient volume at Albany Clinic: 50-80 patients daily; Average Daily Infusion Visits: 30-38.
- Average patient volume at Troy Clinic: 40 patients daily; Average Daily Infusion Visits: 15-20.
- Nurses, APPs, and MDs are authorized to administer antineoplastic agents.
- MDs and APPs perform intrathecal, intralesion, and intracavity procedures.
- Bone marrow and FNA biopsies are primarily conducted by Interventional Radiology.
- Nurses oversee VAD catheters.
- Intrapleural therapies are provided in the inpatient setting.
- Collaborative clinical trials are being pursued with the cancer center.
- The Oncology Service Line comprises approximately 80% oncology and 20% benign hematology.
- The Oncology Services Line is transitioning to a 1:1 MD:APP model.
Patient Demographics:
- Patients come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
- Age range includes Geriatric to Young Adult (no pediatrics).
- High volumes of pancreatic, breast, colon, and urology cases.
- Lower volumes of melanoma and renal cases.
- Physicians have access to various specialties within the system (Thoracic, GI, H&N, GU).
- The GI group operates independently but collaborates effectively with the Oncology Service Line.
- The Oncology Service Line does not manage acute leukemias.
- Currently, there is no BMT/TCT program within the Oncology Service Line.
*The Oncology Services Line has dedicated APPs for both inpatient and outpatient services.
Support Staff:
- Our nursing team achieved Magnet designation in 2022.
- Each physician is assigned a Primary Nurse for triage calls and administrative tasks.
- Dedicated Nurses are available in both Albany and Troy clinics to assist with patient management.
**Four full-time pharmacists are available to assist with chemotherapy-related inquiries and are very approachable.
Call Responsibilities:
- Current call schedule is 1:5 for inpatient consults.
- Future goal is to achieve a 1:7 schedule.
- Consult Service: Hospitalists handle admissions, while dedicated inpatient APPs manage patient care.
- After-hours call responsibility: Monday - Thursday every 5 weeks.
- Weekend call responsibility: Friday - Sunday every 5 weeks.
- EMR: EPIC.
Tumor Boards: GU, GI, Breast, Thoracic, General.
***Virtual access to specialized Tumor Boards at the cancer center is available.
Qualifications:
- Must possess Board Certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in Medical Oncology and Hematology, or be in the process of obtaining it.
