Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Abilene, Texas

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Experience working with students who are visually impaired in school settings
• Strong knowledge of current best practices and instructional strategies for learners with low vision or blindness
• Proficiency with braille, large print, tactile graphics, and assistive technology devices
• Ability to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and track student progress
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with parents, staff, and district personnel

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction to students, adapting lessons based on individual needs
• Assess and document student progress toward IEP goals
• Consult with general education teachers to modify curriculum and classroom materials
• Provide orientation and mobility guidance in cooperation with specialists
