Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state-level certification)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience interpreting in educational settings, especially at the high school level, is highly valued
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with educators, parents, and staff
- Professionalism, adaptability, and a positive attitude
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for high school students
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers using ASL
- Provide support during meetings, assemblies, extracurricular activities, and other school events
- Work closely with teachers and educational staff to ensure students’ needs are met across various subjects and situations
- Support students’ social and academic growth through effective, clear interpretation
