An opportunity is available for a travel retail pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care in a community grocery store setting within a well-established health system. This role offers a unique blend of patient interaction, medication management, and supervisory responsibilities in a dynamic retail pharmacy environment.

Location: Alamogordo, New Mexico
Assignment Type: Travel Contract – 13 weeks or longer (shorter assignments will be considered)
Schedule:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Closed weekends and six major holidays at primary location
  • Occasional weekend shifts possible at secondary location

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active New Mexico Pharmacist License or willingness to obtain prior to start
  • Disclosure and verification of all active/inactive pharmacy licenses
  • Minimum one year of experience as a registered pharmacist preferred
  • APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification required or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Strong patient counseling and medication dispensing skills
  • Ability to supervise and direct pharmacy technician staff effectively
  • Flexibility to cover shifts at a secondary retail location, including occasional weekends
  • Adaptable to work across multiple retail sites

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medication orders in compliance with protocols
  • Maintain and update accurate patient medication profiles
  • Supervise and verify pharmacy technician activities daily
  • Participate in medical emergency responses
  • Conduct medication storage inspections and remove outdated stock
  • Provide orientation and training to new staff
  • Adhere to strict infection control procedures throughout all pharmacy operations

This is a direct client relationship with no vendor management system involvement. Compensation includes an attractive hourly rate with travel stipends covering housing, meals, and travel expenses. Weekly pay and medical benefits are offered.
