Job Description
Our organization is on the lookout for a Board Certified or Board Eligible OBGYN physician to become a part of our expanding OBGYN Hospitalist team. This hybrid position emphasizes delivering in-house obstetric and gynecologic care for both assigned and unassigned patients, while also responding to emergencies. The hospitalist will work in close collaboration with our employed and community-based OBGYNs to maintain a high standard of care throughout our service line.
We have a robust network comprising 36 OBGYNs, 8 GYN-only physicians, 2 Family Medicine OB physicians, and 16 mid-level providers. Annually, we assist in the delivery of approximately 4,000 babies, with growth anticipated as South Carolina continues to be one of the fastest-growing states in the nation.
The Hospitalist plays a vital role in resident education and ensures that a qualified OBGYN physician is available on-site during critical hours. Our hospital system offers subspecialty services in MFM, gynecologic oncology, and urogynecology. Additionally, consultations from other specialties such as general surgery, urology, and interventional radiology are readily accessible.
Work ScheduleA full-time OBGYN Hospitalist will be scheduled for a predetermined number of 24-hour shifts each year, based on organizational needs, scheduling requirements, and provider availability. Community-based OBGYNs will handle daytime calls, and the Hospitalist will not be responsible for office coverage or scheduled GYN surgeries during the day.
Key Responsibilities- Provide in-house coverage from Monday to Friday and take on 48-hour weekend shifts on a rotating basis.
- Act as the attending physician for unassigned OB patients, including emergency deliveries and obstetrical triage assessments.
- Respond to obstetric emergencies promptly.
- Evaluate and manage unassigned gynecologic patients arriving through the Emergency Department.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, anesthesia, and on-call physicians to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Perform necessary procedures, including cesarean deliveries and gynecologic emergency interventions.
- Document and communicate hand-offs effectively in EPIC to maintain continuity of care.
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Possession of a South Carolina Medical License.
