Reading Specialist - West Chester, PA

Step into an impactful position supporting student literacy and growth as a Reading Specialist for a full-time contract role. This onsite opportunity runs from August 24, 2026, through June 10, 2027, with a commitment of 37.5 hours per week serving students at the elementary level. The role provides a rewarding chance to make a difference for a diverse population.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Active Pennsylvania Reading Specialist certification required
• Proven mastery of reading instruction, current pedagogical skills, and resource knowledge
• Previous school-based experience, ideally in an urban environment
• Demonstrated strength in classroom and behavioral management
• Experience creating lesson plans using current state/district standards, integrating formative assessment and differentiated instruction
• Ability to complete all required PA clearances
• Reliable transportation for consistent onsite attendance
• Comfort and familiarity with the unique needs of the district and location

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized reading instruction aligned with district and state benchmarks
• Develop and implement targeted lessons to address diverse student needs
• Monitor, assess, and report student progress using formative assessment and data-driven decision making
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support literacy across the curriculum
• Utilize strong behavioral management to foster positive, productive learning environments
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and contribute to school-wide literacy initiatives
