Key Requirements:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Current Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) credential
  • Proven experience supporting students with visual impairments in a school environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to develop and adapt individualized educational plans
  • Passion for empowering students to access curriculum and their environments safely

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both in mainstream and specialized settings
  • Develop and implement individualized lessons based on student needs and IEP goals
  • Conduct orientation and mobility assessments to foster safe navigation of school and community environments
  • Collaborate with general educators, special educators, families, and related service providers
  • Advocate for accessibility, inclusion, and accommodations for students
  • Maintain thorough records and contribute to IEP meetings
