Key Requirements:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Current Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) credential
- Proven experience supporting students with visual impairments in a school environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and adapt individualized educational plans
- Passion for empowering students to access curriculum and their environments safely
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both in mainstream and specialized settings
- Develop and implement individualized lessons based on student needs and IEP goals
- Conduct orientation and mobility assessments to foster safe navigation of school and community environments
- Collaborate with general educators, special educators, families, and related service providers
- Advocate for accessibility, inclusion, and accommodations for students
- Maintain thorough records and contribute to IEP meetings
