Job Description
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students through an Occupational Therapist maternity leave assignment beginning in early September and continuing through December—with the potential for an extension through the full school year. Based near the Huntington Beach area, this contract position offers full-time hours and the chance to make a significant difference in a dynamic educational setting. You’ll collaborate closely with a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), allowing for comprehensive and coordinated student care.
Ideal candidates will bring their enthusiasm for pediatric and school-based practice, leveraging expertise to help students overcome barriers to learning and promote success in their academic environment.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current Occupational Therapy license for California
- Previous experience in a school-based OT role strongly preferred
- Knowledge of practices and interventions for students from diverse backgrounds and with varying needs
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with educators, families, and support staff
- Strong organizational skills to manage and document caseload as details are finalized
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ functional abilities and develop individualized goals to foster participation and learning
- Deliver direct and consultative occupational therapy services in collaboration with classroom staff and your COTA
- Support inclusion and access through adaptation of materials, activities, and environments
- Maintain clear and timely records; participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Adjust intervention plans as needed to align with evolving caseload specifics
