Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Lincolnton, NC

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or eligibility for state licensure.
• Experience working with children and adolescents who are Deaf or hard of hearing in school settings.
• Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL), auditory-oral, and/or total communication approaches.
• Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
• Collaborative attitude and ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Flexibility and commitment to individualized student support.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction and accommodations to meet students’ unique needs across multiple grade levels.
• Use a variety of communication methods (including ASL and assistive technology) to facilitate access to curriculum.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and school staff to support inclusive education.
• Monitor progress, participate in IEP meetings, and contribute to student goal setting.
• Educate peers and staff about Deaf culture, best practices, and inclusion.
• Advocate for the academic and social success of students with hearing differences.
