A retail pharmacist opportunity is available for a travel assignment at a pharmacy located inside a grocery store in Alamogordo, New Mexico, with coverage also required at a secondary retail location nearby. This role offers a 13-week (or longer) contract, with shorter assignments considered, providing a chance to apply your skills in a community pharmacy setting within a healthcare system environment.

Location: Alamogordo, New Mexico
Type: Travel contract assignment
Schedule:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Closed weekends and six major holidays at the primary location
  • Occasional weekend coverage may be required at secondary location

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active New Mexico pharmacist license or ability to obtain prior to start (all licenses must be disclosed)
  • Minimum one year of experience as a registered pharmacist preferred
  • APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Experience in retail pharmacy, ideally within a grocery store setting
  • Strong skills in patient counseling, medication dispensing, and supervising pharmacy technicians
  • Flexibility to cover shifts at both primary and secondary pharmacy locations, including occasional weekends
  • Ability to adapt quickly to shifting work environments and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare, review, and dispense prescriptions following established protocols
  • Maintain precise patient medication records
  • Manage pharmacy technician activities and supervise daily operations
  • Support medical emergency responses within the pharmacy team
  • Conduct medication storage reviews and remove expired stock
  • Provide training and orientation to new staff
  • Follow strict infection control policies throughout all pharmacy procedures
