Pharmacist - Portsmouth, Virginia

A dynamic opportunity is available for an experienced Inpatient Pharmacist to provide expert pharmaceutical care in a hospital setting undergoing management transition. This contract role requires immediate availability and strong clinical skills to navigate a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Location: Portsmouth, VA
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: Monday, August 24

Schedule/Hours:

• Day Shifts: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• Evening Shifts: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
• Overnight Shifts: 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM, 8:30 PM – 7:30 AM

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately enter and verify medication orders consistent with hospital protocols
• Manage IV medications, pain controlled analgesia, antibiotics, and drug interactions
• Provide specialized dosing including anticoagulants, pharmacokinetic, and renal dosing as needed
• Support chemotherapy medication management when applicable
• Utilize EMR systems for charting and documentation, specifically EPIC

Qualifications & Experience Required:

• Active Virginia Pharmacist License in hand at time of application (mandatory)
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient pharmacy experience; travel pharmacy experience is a plus
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system (required)
• Demonstrated expertise in IV therapy, pain management, antibiotics, and drug interaction oversight
• Preferred experience with chemotherapy, anticoagulation protocols, pharmacokinetic and renal dosing
