We are currently looking for a Patient Safety Officer specifically for our Manhattan campus (Tisch Hospital) and another for our Brooklyn campus (NYU Langone Brooklyn). Position OverviewThe Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is in search of a full-time Senior Obstetrician to join our Labor & Delivery team and take on the role of Patient Safety Officer. This hospital-based position supports two major campuses and integrates with a well-established team focused on maintaining the highest quality and safety standards in a high-acuity, high-volume Labor & Delivery setting. This role is centered on clinical leadership, involving direct engagement in complex obstetrical care, real-time decision-making, and system-wide safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities-
Clinical Leadership & Complex Delivery Management:
- Oversee and actively engage in the management of anticipated complex and high-risk deliveries, including:
- Twin vaginal deliveries
- Hemorrhage management
- Shoulder dystocia interventions
- Operative vaginal deliveries
- Management of labor response teams and conducting hospital-based codes for obstetrical patients
- Assist the clinical team with labor patient management and participate in emergency cesarean sections and/or complicated obstetrical surgeries.
- Provide real-time clinical consultation and decision-making support to the interdisciplinary obstetrical team.

Patient Safety & Quality Improvement:
- Encourage and monitor compliance with evidence-based obstetric protocols and safety standards.
- Engage in the review of adverse events and near-misses.
- Lead and support the implementation of system-wide quality and safety enhancements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including obstetricians, midwives, nurses, trainees, and allied health professionals.

Academic & Professional Engagement:
- Contribute to the education and mentorship of trainees.
- Supervise hospital-based Advanced Practice Practitioners.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research.
- Engage in leadership development opportunities within a major academic medical center.
- 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Minimum of 12 shifts per month
- Includes weekend shifts
$300,000 to $350,000 annually, in addition to comprehensive benefits.
Qualifications- Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- A minimum of five (5) years of continuous active clinical practice in Obstetrics
- Successful completion of a U.S.-accredited OB/GYN residency program
- Active medical license in New York State
- Proven commitment to patient safety, high-quality care, and medical education
