A pharmacy in Washington, NC, is seeking a Pharmacist for a 13-week contract, with the potential to transition to a permanent role based on performance. This opportunity offers a dynamic setting approximately two hours east of Raleigh, providing a chance to apply and grow your pharmacy skills in a supportive environment.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Rotating weekends

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently
  • Monitor patient medication compliance and identify patterns of over-usage
  • Ensure legal compliance regarding the supply and dispensing of medicines
  • Verify prescribed medications are appropriate for patients
  • Maintain confidential and accurate patient records in compliance with regulations
  • Advise patients regarding medication usage, potential reactions, and answer their questions
  • Offer consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions
  • Provide patient services such as smoking cessation programs, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management
  • Educate patients on the correct use and handling of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
  • Compound medications for internal and external use and prepare sterile solutions correctly
  • Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technicians and clerks
  • Manage inventory effectively to ensure adequate pharmaceutical and medical supplies
  • Identify drug-related problems and communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare providers
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote optimal patient care

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid North Carolina Pharmacist license required
  • Retail pharmacy experience preferred; training provided for those new to the retail environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to supervise staff and work collaboratively within a healthcare team
