A pharmacy in Washington, NC, is seeking a Pharmacist for a 13-week contract, with the potential to transition to a permanent role based on performance. This opportunity offers a dynamic setting approximately two hours east of Raleigh, providing a chance to apply and grow your pharmacy skills in a supportive environment.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Rotating weekends
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify patterns of over-usage
- Ensure legal compliance regarding the supply and dispensing of medicines
- Verify prescribed medications are appropriate for patients
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient records in compliance with regulations
- Advise patients regarding medication usage, potential reactions, and answer their questions
- Offer consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions
- Provide patient services such as smoking cessation programs, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management
- Educate patients on the correct use and handling of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
- Compound medications for internal and external use and prepare sterile solutions correctly
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technicians and clerks
- Manage inventory effectively to ensure adequate pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- Identify drug-related problems and communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare providers
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote optimal patient care
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid North Carolina Pharmacist license required
- Retail pharmacy experience preferred; training provided for those new to the retail environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to supervise staff and work collaboratively within a healthcare team
