Job Description
This position supports the medical providers and nursing staff to ensure all patients receive quality care.
\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
\nEscort patients to exam rooms; interview patients; measure vital signs including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature; and document all information in patient’s chart.
\nAssists the RN, LPN, and medical providers by promptly reporting changes in the patient’s condition.
\nInitiates emergency measures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation appropriate to skill level, and assists with retrieving emergency medical equipment as necessary.
\nAssists medical providers in examination of patients by explaining procedures, positioning the patient, assembling, arranging, and draping instruments and gathering supplies.
\nDocuments information/ patient care into the patient’s electronic health care record. This documentation will occur, at times in the exam room with the patient and medical provider, in a real-time situation.
\nPerforms Nebulizer treatments.
\nPerforms oral, topical, intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal administration of non-controlled medications.
\nPerforms immunizations (subcutaneous or intramuscular)
\nPerforms 12 lead electrocardiogram (EKG) and gives report to RN and/or medical provider.
\nPerforms throat cultures and laboratory sample collection, within the CMA’s scope of practice.
\nPerforms Ear irrigation.
\nKeep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required.
\nAssists with administrative tasks as necessary, such as answering patient telephone calls and scheduling appointments.
\nOther duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the department.
\nQUALIFICATIONS:
\nHigh school diploma or GED equivalent
\nCurrent certification for a Medical Assistant from accredited program.
\nSupporting certification such as BLS and other necessary competencies (e.g., ACLS, TNCC, PALS etc.) or obtain within 60 days of hire.
\nMust be able to demonstrate skills in the practical application of electronic systems and database management software and satisfactory sterile techniques.
\nMust be able to pass a criminal background check under the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act (P.L.101-630).
\nCurrent BLS Certification or be able to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
\nWORKING CONDITIONS:
\nRepetitive sitting, standing, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, and reaching.
