This opening offers an opportunity for a licensed pharmacist to fill a travel pharmacy role at a retail location within a grocery store setting in Alamogordo, New Mexico. With assignment lengths starting at 13 weeks and potential for flexibility, this position requires a skilled pharmacist ready to provide medication dispensing, patient counseling, and pharmacy team supervision while adapting to multiple retail locations.
Location:
- Alamogordo, New Mexico
- Primary site inside a grocery store pharmacy
- Secondary retail site available with occasional weekend shifts
Schedule:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Weekends closed at primary location; occasional weekend coverage at secondary location
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medications
- Maintain detailed patient medication profiles
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and oversee daily activities
- Participate in emergency medical responses within the pharmacy
- Conduct medication storage inspections and remove outdated stock
- Train and orient new pharmacy team members
- Follow infection control procedures throughout pharmacy operations
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active New Mexico Pharmacist License (or willing to obtain before start)
- Minimum one year of experience as a registered pharmacist preferred
- APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification required or attainable within 30 days
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or attainable within 30 days
- Strong skills in patient counseling, medication dispensing, and pharmacy team leadership
- Flexibility to work at two retail locations, including some weekends
