School Registered Nurse (RN) in Chicago, IL

Qualifications & Experience

• Active State RN License/Certification required
• Proven experience with ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and suctioning
• Skilled with G-tube feedings (including pumps) and oral liquid intake for children
• Experience providing hands-on support for wheelchair-bound students, including lifting and transferring
• Previous background in pediatric, home health, or school-based nursing—especially in high-acuity or 1:1 cases
• Commitment to daily bus supervision (must ride with student on a short, local commute)
• Excellent communication skills for coordination with parents, educators, and administration
• Confidence in working independently with advanced medical equipment in an active classroom environment
• Preference for candidates with substantial trach/vent experience

Role Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, attentive nursing care tailored to a first-grade student’s complex needs
• Oversee respiratory supports, including ventilator and tracheostomy management
• Administer enteral and oral feedings, ensuring best safety practices
• Facilitate safe mobility, including transfers and equipment transport throughout the school day
• Supervise and assist with bus transportation before and after school
