Job Description
Step into a pivotal role supporting early learners as a Reading Specialist within a dynamic Pre K-2 environment. This full-time, contract position runs from August 17 through May 27, 2027, focusing on Library Media and instructional support tailored to kindergarten through second-grade students. You'll use your expertise to foster literacy and help cultivate a love for reading at a foundational stage.
Qualifications:
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a closely related field.
- Maintain a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsements.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of curriculum design and instructional strategies.
- Strong written and oral communication skills essential for collaborating with colleagues, students, and families.
Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted reading and library support services for K-2 students, aligned with individual grade level needs.
- Develop and implement engaging literacy activities and interventions to support student achievement.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate reading strategies across the curriculum.
- Oversee library media resources, facilitating access and fostering a welcoming, resource-rich learning center.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting approaches to maximize literacy growth.
- Participate in professional development and school-wide literacy initiatives to continually enhance the instructional program.
