Clinical Director of Adult Primary Care

The Director of Primary Care is responsible for overseeing the provision of outstanding, patient-focused care within our organization's Primary Clinics. This position guarantees adherence to HRSA standards while promoting integrated care models that cater to the medical, behavioral, and social needs of Atlanta's most at-risk populations.

In this role, the Director leads the Clinical Team, acting as a mentor and educator for physicians and nurse practitioners, thereby encouraging professional development and clinical excellence. Collaboration across various departments is essential to ensure cohesive, integrated care and compliance with all health system policies, while actively supporting our organization's values of compassion and inclusivity.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or DO: Board certification in a primary care specialty is required.
• A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a healthcare environment, with a preference for those with FQHC experience.
• Prior formal leadership experience is preferred but not mandatory for physicians who show readiness for leadership, possess strong clinical judgment, and are committed to ongoing learning and professional development.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Knowledge in population health, chronic disease management, and integrated care models.

• Mentors and develops physicians and nurse practitioners, enhances clinical teams, and manages budgets to ensure operational excellence.
• The Director collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to promote integrated care models that address the medical, behavioral, and social needs of underserved populations while ensuring compliance with HRSA standards and organizational objectives.
• Strong strategic, analytical, and program development capabilities.
• Experience in leading interdisciplinary teams and implementing process improvements.

Following the Civil War, four pioneering Sisters of Mercy arrived from Savannah to Atlanta and founded Saint Joseph's Hospital. When the hospital moved to the suburbs a century later, volunteer physicians, nurses, and other staff took to the streets of downtown Atlanta, using their skills to serve the most vulnerable. In 2012, Saint Joseph's Hospital transitioned to Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital, while our organization continued under the Saint Joseph's Health System. At this juncture, the resources and efforts of the health system were directed towards our mission of serving the underprivileged.

Over the past decade, we have experienced significant growth, addressing new patient and community needs, as well as expanding our facilities. In 2017, we opened a new clinic in Chamblee to serve the rapidly growing Hispanic community. In 2022, we renovated and expanded the Decatur Street clinic while continuing to serve our patient population.
