Project Engineer (Mechanical)

- Salary: £45,000-£46,000 \n
- Location: Northumberland \n
- Working Hours: 35.5 hours per week, early finish Fridays \n
Day-to-day of the role:
\n- \n
- Manage assigned projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery against agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards. \n
- Prepare and present proposals for projects, including cost justifications and progress updates. \n
- Review and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications to ensure compliance and accuracy. \n
- Provide mechanical engineering expertise across design, development, installation, and commissioning phases. \n
- Produce and interpret 2D and 3D engineering drawings using design software such as Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. \n
- Identify and drive process improvements related to quality, machine efficiency, and safety performance. \n
- Advise on spare parts requirements for new equipment, including recommended minimum stock levels. \n
- Evaluate potential subcontractors based on cost, delivery performance, and quality metrics. \n
- Appoint and manage subcontractors, ensuring work complies with safety regulations and industry standards. \n
- Maintain oversight of activities requiring compliance with relevant construction regulations (e.g., CDM where applicable). \n
- Ensure all project activities adhere to recognised safety, environmental, and operational standards. \n
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies and authorities when required. \n
- Identify technical or site-specific issues and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. \n
Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or HNC/HND with significant relevant experience. \n
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience within mechanical engineering, capital project management, or a similar environment. \n
- Experience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. \n
- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor). \n
