REED Milton Keynes is delighted to be partnering with an established and growing organisation seeking an experienced Senior Purchase Ledger / Accounts Payable Specialist to join their finance team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of the end-to-end accounts payable function. You'll play a key role in ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time, maintaining strong financial controls, and driving continuous process improvements across the AP function.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you'll be responsible for:

• Processing and validating supplier invoices against purchase orders and supporting documentation
\n
• Accurately entering invoice data into the finance system
\n
• Managing payment runs and ensuring suppliers are paid within agreed terms
\n
• Monitoring outstanding liabilities and cash flow commitments
\n
• Building and maintaining positive supplier relationships
\n
• Handling supplier queries and resolving payment-related issues efficiently
\n
• Maintaining accurate supplier records and account information
\n
• Performing supplier statement reconciliations and managing aged balances
\n
• Reconciling accounts payable balances to the general ledger
\n
• Assisting with internal and external audit requirements
\n
• Ensuring compliance with financial controls, policies, and procedures
\n
• Supporting the development and implementation of best-practice AP procedures
\n

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented finance professional who can hit the ground running.

Essential Skills & Experience

\n
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
\n
• Previous experience within an Accounts Payable or Purchase Ledger role
\n
• Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and financial controls
\n
• Experience using ERP systems such as Oracle, Dynamics 365, SAP, or similar
\n
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
\n
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
\n
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
\n
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
\n
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
\n
• A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
\n

Desirable

\n
• Experience in a high-volume invoice processing environment
\n
• Previous involvement in process improvement initiatives
\n
• Exposure to month-end and audit support activities
\n
