Lead Powertrain Design EngineerLocation: Ingrave area, EssexThe OpportunityWe are looking for a driven Lead Powertrain Design Engineer to join our fast-paced powertrain development team. This role is perfect for someone who loves the challenge of taking complex engineering concepts and turning them into practical, high-performance racing realities. You will spend your days balancing cutting-edge creative design with solid mechanical engineering principles and tight motorsport schedules.In this role, you will be the bridge between initial concepts and track deployment. Working alongside our race engineers, simulation teams, and manufacturing specialists, you will lead the design of innovative internal combustion powertrain systems, guiding them from the initial 3D CAD model right through to the race grid.What You Will Do Day-to-DayLead the engine design: As our dedicated Lead Powertrain Design Engineer , you will own the development of powertrain systems, including whole engines, cooling, and lubrication.Master the technical detail: Produce precise 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and detailed product definitions.Validate and optimize performance: Use engineering calculations, GD&T, FEA, and CFD data to maximize component durability.Support the race track: Investigate component failures and implement rapid engineering changes to meet demanding race schedules.Drive best practices: Provide technical direction across development projects and help maintain elite design guidelines.About YouYou are a highly analytical thinker who understands how high-performance components are actually manufactured. You thrive in a competitive, fast-moving environment, stay calm under tight racing deadlines, and bring the following to the table:Elite industry experience: A deep background working as a Lead Powertrain Design Engineer within elite environments like Formula 1, endurance racing, or touring cars.Technical CAD know-how: Advanced proficiency in high-end 3D CAD software like CATIA, Siemens NX, Creo, or SolidWorks.Strong manufacturing foundations: Expert knowledge of internal combustion engines, materials, DFMA, and tolerance stack-up.Great collaboration skills: The ability to work seamlessly across cross-functional teams, coordinate with suppliers, and lead clear design reviews.What Success Looks LikeWhen you settle into the role, success as our Lead Powertrain Design Engineer will mean delivering lightweight, high-performance powertrain components on time, with minimal reliability hitches on the track.
