Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established and growing engineering business specialising in the design and build of special-purpose machinery and automation equipment for customers across the globe.This is a varied, hands-on role within a close-knit engineering team, ideal for someone with experience in machine build, mechanical assembly and workshop-based engineering support who enjoys working on bespoke equipment from build through to test and installation support.The RoleAs Mechanical Fitter, you will play a key role in the build and support of bespoke special-purpose machines and automated equipment. The role will involve a mixture of fitting, assembly, machine rectification, testing support and occasional customer/supplier interaction, both in the UK and overseas.Key responsibilities will include:Mechanical fitting and assembly of special-purpose machines and automation equipmentSupporting machine build, testing and commissioning activitiesCarrying out rectification work and small machining tasks using manual workshop equipment including milling, turning, drilling and grinding machineryAssisting with machine improvements and engineering problem-solving activitiesWorking with pneumatic and hydraulic systems at a basic/intermediate levelSupporting visits and liaison with customers, suppliers and subcontractors where requiredContributing to the continuous improvement of internal engineering procedures and systemsAbout YouTo be successful in this role, you will ideally have:At least 3 years experience in an engineering / manufacturing environmentPrevious experience building or assembling special-purpose machinery, automation equipment or bespoke mechanical systemsGood hands-on mechanical fitting and workshop skillsBasic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systemsA tidy, organised and proactive approach to workWillingness to travel overseas occasionally for short periods if requiredAn engineering qualification such as ONC / HNC / apprenticeship / equivalent would be advantageousA full driving licence would be beneficialWhats on OfferCompetitive salary dependent on experiencePaid overtimeProfit-related bonus / share schemeGenerous employer pension contributionOverseas travel allowancesFree EV chargingFlexible working arrangementsExcellent holiday allowanceOpportunity to join a growing specialist engineering business with a strong reputation in bespoke machine design and buildThis is a great opportunity for a practical and motivated Mechanical Fitter looking to join a highly skilled team working on interesting, technically varied projects in a specialist machinery environment.
