Job Description
To work with and provide care and support to individuals with a range of disabilities or frailties who may exhibit a variety of challenging behaviours posing a range of physical and emotional challenges, or require urgent care.
\nRequirements\n
To promote the independence and develop skills for individuals.
\nProvide assistance and guidance/training to individuals in all household tasks.
\nAssist individuals to manage all areas of finance, bank account, benefits, budgeting.
\nEnable individuals to develop social skills and integrate as fully as possible into their Community.
\nTo work in different locations and services within Moray Council.
\nTo uphold social work values, to ensure good working practice including understanding and awareness of health and safety.
\nTo work positively with other agencies, parents, carers, and other services to ensure a quality provision of care for service users.
\nDevelop and contribute to the maintenance of individual’s records and support plans and act as a key worker when required.
\nGeneral Duties.
\nTo participate in regular and ongoing training and team meetings relevant to the needs of the individuals.
\nBe aware and follow the Health and Safety guidelines at all times.

Experience which would give insight into working with adults with a learning disability,
\nMental Health or Challenging Behaviour.
\nAbility to demonstrate a satisfactory level of literacy and numeracy.
\nMandatory SSSC registration for new and existing staff.
\nWillingness to undertake SVQ qualification.
\nBudgeting skills.
\nAbility to undertake household skills to a required standard.
\nAbility to record information accurately.
\nSelf confident and self motivated.
\nActive listening and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with individual and staff at all levels.
\nAbility to resolve problems and cope with day to day pressures.
\nFlexible and adaptable.
\nAbility to work independently and/or as part of an effective team.
\nConfident approach to challenging situations.
\nAbility to encourage and enable individual.
\nA positive and supportive attitude to individuals.
\nEffective organisational skills including time management.
\nFull Driving licence, you will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.

\nMust be physically able to undertake a range of movements when carrying out personal care and domestic tasks.
\nMust be able to handle equipment/people in accordance with moving and handling regulations.

\nThis post is considered to be a 'Regulated Role' under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act is is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role within children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.
