SEN Teacher (Fixed-Term Contract - Long-Term Absence Cover)

Prospero Teaching is seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join a highly supportive and nurturing specialist school in Fareham, Hampshire, from September on a fixed-term contract to cover a long-term staff absence.

\n

This welcoming special school caters for pupils aged 3-11 years with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and the school is dedicated to providing a personalised, inclusive, and engaging curriculum that enables every pupil to achieve their full potential.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCP outcomes.
  • \n
  • Create a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.
  • \n
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, families, and external professionals.
  • \n
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress effectively.
  • \n
  • Support pupils' communication, social, emotional, and personal development.
  • \n

Experience, Training & Qualifications

\n
    \n
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • \n
  • Experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is desirable.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties.
  • \n
  • Experience of adapting teaching to meet a wide range of learning needs.
  • \n
  • A strong understanding of EHCPs and person-centred approaches to learning.
  • \n
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (or willingness to undertake training).
  • \n

Eligibility Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • \n
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Two professional references relating to work with children.
  • \n
