Mechanical Inspector
Job Description
Mechanical Inspector - We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Inspector to join our aerospace inspection team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in GD&T, manual inspection techniques, use of shadowgraph/optical comparators, and conducting First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
\n\nKey responsibilities:
\n- Perform detailed inspections of aerospace components against engineering drawings and specifications using GD&T principles.
\n- Conduct manual inspections using precision hand tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, Go/No-Go gauges) and optical comparators/shadowgraphs.
\n- Execute and document FAIRs/FAIs, preparing accurate inspection reports and non-conformance documentation where required.
\n- Verify dimensional and visual conformity throughout production and during final inspection.
\n- Work closely with production and engineering to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
\n- Maintain inspection records and ensure measuring equipment is calibrated and traceable.
\n- Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards and customer requirements.
\n\nRequired skills and experience:
\n- Proven experience as a Mechanical Inspector ideally with knowledge of the aerospace industry.
\n- Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T.
\n- Experience performing FAIRs/First Article Inspections.
\n- Proficient with shadowgraph/optical comparator operation and interpretation.
\n- Excellent manual inspection skills with precision hand tools.
\n- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
\n- High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and clear written/verbal communication.
