Back End Software Engineer - 6 months - Glasgow - Outside IR35Day rate - Circa £480Harvey Nash's public sector client are currently looking to recruit a Back-End Software Engineer to join their team based Glasgow/Remote for an initial 6-month period.Main Duties:Work across technical teams formed of supplier, contract and permanent resourceDevelop new features in a secure way in line with industry best-practicesProvide production support and support on fixing application issuesIdentifying production and non-production application defectsTrain and knowledge share with colleaguesLooking ahead for future opportunities or blockers, and ensuring decisions by teams align with the technical directionIdentify operational improvements and work to ensure a stable service that can be enhancedAnticipate and mitigate against project challenges or risksEssential Skills:Technology knowledge - Demonstrable experience in the minimum of 4 Of the below: Particular working experience with Java 8+Experience in using Spring/Spring Boot frameworksExperience in designing and developing RESTful microservicesExperience writing unit and integration testsExperience with CI/CD, including build tools (Jenkins, Groovy/Gradle, Maven, etc)Experience with AWS, Docker containers & associated toolingGeneral knowledge - Demonstrable Experience in a minimum of three of the below practices and design patterns: Server-side and front-end codingProgramming Best Practices (i.e. Clean Code, SOLID, etc.)Are familiar with good continuous integration and continuous delivery principlesExperience of microservice design patternsDemonstrable Experience in a minimum of 3 of these bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical Translate technical concepts between infrastructure, delivery management and service management so they are understood by allAble to speak on behalf of technical and development teams and facilitate the relationships with indirect stakeholdersAble to share knowledge and mentor (potentially non-technical) colleaguesDesirable Skills & ExperienceProficiency in both Java (particular in Sprint Boot) and JS would be advantageousKnowledge of multiple JS frameworks and tools (e.g. React, Angular, Vue, NodeJS, Redux, Typescript, Webpack, Jest)Working experience with MySQL compatible DBs (MySQL, RDS, Aurora, MariaDB)Experience with Docker/Bash/Shell ScriptingThis role has been deemed Outside IR35 by the client.
