Come join us as our Transport Shift Manager!Join our GXO Howdens team in our Hemel Hempstead (HP2 7HZ) depot as Transport Shift Manager (Nights). Youll be responsible for safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the transport function during your designated shift, ensuring delivery performance, legal compliance, effective people management, and high standards of customer service.This is a full time, permanent position with core hours Monday to Friday 22.00 PM to 06.00 AM (flexibility required for business needs).Pay, benefits and more:Were looking to offer a salary of up to £37,500 per annum , and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts!What youll do on a typical day:Lead shift transport operations, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed safely, legally, on time, and to customer expectations, including real-time monitoring, route replanning, issue resolution, and shift handoversEnsure full health, safety, and compliance, maintaining adherence to H&S legislation, DVSA, Operator Licence, tachograph, and working time regulations, while promoting a strong safety culture and supporting audits and inspectionsProvide people leadership, motivating and engaging drivers and colleagues, managing attendance and resourcing, delivering performance management and development, and supporting disciplinary, grievance, and absence processesManage resources and assets effectively, maximising utilisation of drivers, vehicles, trailers, and equipment, and overseeing defects, breakdowns, and maintenance escalationDrive efficiency and cost control, supporting fuel efficiency, damage reduction, service performance improvement, and operational cost management initiativesWhat you need to succeed at GXO:Proven supervisory experience within a transport environment, with proven people and operational leadership capabilityStrong knowledge of UK transport legislation, compliance standards, and health & safety requirements, including experience of incident investigationExcellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectivelyPersonal attributes: calm, resilient, and professional under pressure; proactive and solutions-focused; high integrity and accountability; committed to continuous improvementWe engineer faster, smarter, leaner supply chains.#LI-AG1TPBN1_UKTJ
