About the Role

\n

We are seeking two Housing Technical Support Officers to provide essential administrative and technical support across Housing and Public Protection Services. This includes supporting teams within:

\n
    \n
  • Environmental Health (Residential Services, Environmental Protection, Commercial Services)
  • \n
  • Trading Standards
  • \n
  • Community Safety
  • \n
\n

This is a varied and fast-paced role where you will play a key part in ensuring efficient service delivery.

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

You will be part of a busy technical admin team supporting the housing service, with duties including:

\n
    \n
  • Raising and processing invoices
  • \n
  • Managing utility bills
  • \n
  • Raising purchase orders (POs)
  • \n
  • Providing administrative support to Environmental Health Officers
  • \n
  • Processing food registration applications
  • \n
  • Supporting Trading Standards activities
  • \n
  • Managing shared mailboxes (team of 4 managing 9 mailboxes)
  • \n
  • Conducting Land Registry searches
  • \n
  • Investigating and resolving queries effectively
  • \n
  • Using systems and tools to handle issues appropriately (e.g. differentiating between residential and public area cases)
  • \n

About You

  • Highly organised with strong administrative skills
  • \n
  • Comfortable handling high volumes of work across multiple tasks
  • \n
  • Proactive problem-solvers with good attention to detail
  • \n
  • Able to work effectively within a team and independently
  • \n
  • Confident managing shared inboxes and prioritising workloads
  • \n
\n

Desirable:

\n
    \n
  • Experience within a local authority or public sector environment
  • \n
  • \n

    Familiarity with housing, environmental health or regulatory services

  • \n
\n

Candidates without local authority experience will still be considered if they have relevant transferable skills and a genuine interest in working within a council environment. We encourage applicants to research the services prior to interview.
