We are recruiting on behalf of a leading automotive group for a Retailer Accountant position based in North Tyneside. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with a strong background in dealership accounting within the automotive industry. The successful candidate will oversee all financial operations across one or more dealership sites, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations within agreed deadlines.
\n
• Monitor departmental performance, providing detailed financial reporting, variance analysis, and commentary to management.
\n
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer and group reporting requirements.
\n
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations and integration within the wider business.
\n
• Oversee and manage vehicle funding and stocking plan reconciliations.
\n
• Manage the accrual and reconciliation of manufacturer bonuses and incentives.
\n
• Collaborate with departmental managers to set, monitor, and control budgets.
\n
• Manage site VAT return information and other ad-hoc statutory submissions as appropriate.
\n
• Liaise with and manage the provision of required material to external auditors.
\n
• Ensure the accurate and timely submission of payroll information along with the reconciliation and posting of payroll journals.
\n
• Oversee daily and formal month-end bank reconciliations.
\n
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and wider company policies.
\n
• Maintain and improve internal controls and processes, working closely with departmental managers to improve financial performance.
\n
• Use and optimise the Keyloop Autoline system for reporting and operational efficiency.
\n
• Supervise and support both the accounts and vehicle administration teams.
\n

Required Skills & Qualifications:

\n
• Minimum of 3+ years' experience as a retailer accountant in the automotive industry.
\n
• Good understanding of the automotive industry as a whole.
\n
• ACA, CIMA, or ACCA qualified or working towards is desirable.
\n
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, with clear abilities in using Excel.
\n
• Organised and accurate with an ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
\n
• Confidentiality and discretion are a must.
\n
