Senior Quantity Surveyor Highways MaintenanceChester, Cheshire / Hybrid WorkingUp to £70,000 + Car or Car Allowance + Bonus and BenefitsPermanent | 40 Hours per WeekThe OpportunityAn established UK infrastructure and highways business is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a major long-term highways asset maintenance contract across Cheshire West and Chester.This is a key commercial position offering responsibility for a varied portfolio of highways maintenance and improvement schemes. Youll work closely with the operational and commercial teams, taking ownership of cost management, change control, claims and final accounts throughout the contract lifecycle.The position would suit a commercially confident Senior Quantity Surveyor with NEC contract experience and a background in highways, civil engineering or infrastructure maintenance. Experience of resolving historic claims and bringing accounts to an efficient commercial close would be particularly valuable.The role offers hybrid working, typically involving approximately three days per week from the Chester office or across the contract, with flexibility for home working during the remainder of the week.Salary and BenefitsSalary up to £70,000, depending on experienceCompany car or car allowanceDiscretionary annual bonus of up to 10%25 days annual leave plus bank holidaysContributory pension schemeLife assurance at four times basic salaryHybrid workingOngoing professional development and career progressionThe RoleAs Senior Quantity Surveyor, youll provide commercial leadership across the contract from pre-construction and procurement through to delivery and final account.Your responsibilities will include:Managing budgets, forecasts, cash flow and commercial reportingIdentifying and controlling commercial risks and opportunitiesManaging change, compensation events and contractual noticesPreparing, negotiating and closing claims and final accountsSupporting procurement and the commercial management of subcontractorsEnsuring accurate cost capture and robust financial controlsProviding commercial advice to operational and senior management teamsSupporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial teamAbout YouYoull ideally have:Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or experienced Quantity SurveyorA background in highways maintenance, highways construction, civil engineering or infrastructureGood working knowledge of NEC contractsExperience managing claims, compensation events and final accountsStrong commercial reporting, forecasting and cost-management skillsA degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related disciplineThe ability to work collaboratively with operational teams, clients and supply-chain partnersProfessional membership of RICS, CIOB or ICES would be beneficial but isnt essential.Youll need to live within a reasonable commuting distance of Chester and be comfortable attending the office or contract locations approximately three days per week.
