Job Description
Our client based in Nuneaton is seeking an entry level MIG Welder to join their team on a permanent basis. As a MIG Welder, you will be responsible for welding metal components and assemblies to produce high-quality access panels. You will use your welding skills to ensure that all products meet company standards for strength, durability, and precision. You will play a vital role in the manufacturing process, contributing to the assembly and structural integrity of various access panels.ResponsibilitiesWelding: Perform MIG welding on metal components such as steel and aluminium to fabricate access panels and related products, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to specifications.Preparation & Setup: Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, or cutting to the required dimensions. Set up and adjust welding equipment for each specific job, including selecting appropriate gas mixtures, wire size, and welding speed.Quality Control: Inspect finished welds for quality, ensuring they are free of defects such as cracks, weak points, or excess spatter. Perform weld tests as required.Repair & Modifications: Identify and repair defects in welded materials by grinding, cutting, or welding over the defective areas. Modify existing panels or products based on customer or engineering requirements.Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as welding helmets, gloves, and protective clothing. Ensure a safe work environment by following company guidelines.Tool & Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment, tools, and workstations, ensuring they are in good working condition. Report any equipment issues or malfunctions to the Production or Health & Safety Manager.Documentation: Maintain records of completed welding tasks, inspections, and any necessary repairs or adjustments. Fill out job reports and production logs as required.Qualifications and Experience RequiredProven experience as a MIG Welder in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Proficiency in welding various metals, particularly Zintec steel.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.Knowledge of welding equipment setup, safety procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.Certification in MIG welding or equivalent experience.Previous experience in access panel or construction product manufacturing.Key Skills:Strong attention to detail and precision in welding.Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.Problem-solving skills to identify and fix welding defects or material issues.Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors.Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Working Conditions:Factory/Workshop environment with exposure to welding fumes, heat, and metal dust.PPE, including welding helmets, gloves, safety boots, and other protective gear, is required at all times.Regular working hours with the possibility of overtime to meet production demands.Working Hours:Mon-Thurs 8-4:30pm Friday: 8-3:30pmRate Of Pay:£13-£14 Per HourIf you have a passion for welding and possess the required skills, we welcome you to apply for this exciting opportunity as a MIG Welder.
