A welcoming primary school in Chelmsford is looking to appoint a compassionate and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. Working alongside teachers and the school's SEND team, you'll provide tailored support that helps pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

This is a long-term position with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract from August 2027.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
  • \n
  • Adapt learning activities to help children access the curriculum.
  • \n
  • Promote confidence, independence and positive engagement in lessons.
  • \n
  • Support pupils with their social, emotional and communication development.
  • \n
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND professionals and parents.
  • \n
  • Help create a nurturing, inclusive and encouraging learning environment.
  • \n

  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs.

  • Is open to both experienced Teaching Assistants and graduates looking to begin a career in education.

  • Communicates effectively and works well within a team.
  • \n
  • Can use initiative while following guidance from teaching staff.

  • Has a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
