Technician (Buyer)

Leicestershire £14.83 - £15.58 per hour Full Time | Temporary Opportunity

Are you an organised and proactive administrator with experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain or stock management? We are recruiting for a Technician (Buyer) to join the team.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of essential highway maintenance and improvement works across the county by ensuring materials, plant and services are sourced efficiently, compliantly and cost-effectively.

The Role

As a Technician (Buyer), you will support the procurement and supply chain activities for Highways Delivery, ensuring operational teams have the resources they need to deliver both revenue and capital highway projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Processing purchase requisitions and creating purchase orders.
\n
• Sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment and plant hire.
\n
• Managing supplier enquiries and coordinating deliveries and collections.
\n
• Supporting contract and supplier performance management activities.
\n
• Maintaining accurate procurement records and audit trails.
\n
• Ensuring compliance with procurement regulations and contract procedures.
\n
• Assisting operational teams with resource availability information.
\n
• Producing reports, management information and procurement documentation.
\n
• Acting as a first point of contact for procurement-related enquiries.
\n

What We're Looking For

We are interested in hearing from candidates who have:

• Previous experience within purchasing, procurement, supply chain, stores or administration.
\n
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
\n
• Strong attention to detail and record-keeping abilities.
\n
• Experience using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.
\n
• The ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
\n
• Experience working with suppliers, contractors or customers.
\n
• A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
\n

Knowledge of procurement processes, contract management or purchasing systems such as Oracle would be advantageous but is not essential.
