Job Description

As a Senior Business Tax Manager, you'll play a key role in managing tax compliance and advisory services for a variety of clients in the professional services industry. Based in Bath, you'll work closely with the team to ensure all tax matters are handled efficiently and accurately, supporting the smooth running of the department.

Due to continued growth and an increasing demand for specialist business tax support, they are now seeking an experienced Business Tax Manager or Senior Manager to become a key member of the leadership team and lead their business tax advisory function.

Corporation Tax & Business Tax Advisory

\n
    \n
  • Leading complex corporation tax advisory assignments
  • \n
  • Advising on corporate restructures, demergers, share buybacks and reorganisations
  • \n
  • Managing HMRC clearance applications and technical tax submissions
  • \n
  • Advising on group structures, reliefs and loss utilisation planning
  • \n
  • Delivering Capital Gains Tax planning and business exit strategies
  • \n
  • Advising on Business Asset Disposal Relief, Substantial Shareholding Exemption and related reliefs
  • \n
  • Supporting the implementation of employee share schemes, EMI schemes and executive incentive arrangements
  • \n
VAT & Indirect Tax\n
    \n
  • Providing practical VAT advice on corporate transactions
  • \n
  • Advising on land and property VAT matters
  • \n
  • Supporting clients with Transfer of a Going Concern considerations
  • \n
  • Advising on cross-border VAT issues and post-Brexit supply rules
  • \n
  • Identifying VAT planning and recovery opportunities
  • \n
  • Assisting clients through HMRC VAT reviews and enquiries
  • \n
Strategic Client Advisory\n
    \n
  • Acting as the lead business tax adviser across Director portfolios
  • \n
  • Supporting owner-managed businesses throughout their business lifecycle
  • \n
  • Working collaboratively with audit, accounts and private client teams
  • \n
  • Delivering joined-up tax planning across corporate and personal structures
  • \n
  • Advising shareholders, business owners and family groups
  • \n
Leadership & Development\n
    \n
  • Acting as the firm's technical specialist for corporation tax matters
  • \n
  • Supporting and mentoring ACA, ACCA and CTA trainees
  • \n
  • Reviewing technical work completed by junior team members
  • \n
  • Assisting with workflow planning and resource allocation
  • \n
  • Supporting business development initiatives and client proposals
  • \n
  • Building relationships with professional introducers and local networks
  • \n

Profile

\n

A successful Senior Business Tax Manager should have:

\n
    \n
  • ACA, ACCA, ATT or CTA qualification
  • \n
  • Significant post-qualified experience within accountancy practice
  • \n
  • Strong expertise in UK Corporation Tax
  • \n
  • Experience advising owner-managed businesses and corporate groups
  • \n
  • Exposure to corporate restructuring and tax planning projects
  • \n
  • Practical VAT advisory experience
  • \n
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • \n
  • A commercial approach and interest in contributing to firm strategy
  • \n
  • Experience supporting and developing junior staff
  • \n
