As a Radiological Protection Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting the safe management and use of ionising radiation during critical construction phases at the Hinkley Point C site. Your expertise will help ensure compliance, protect workers, and uphold the highest safety standards in a dynamic, challenging environment.What You'll Do:Support and supervise radiography activities, ensuring barriers and equipment are correctly established and monitored.Manage storage, issuance, and inventory of radioactive sources, maintaining strict record-keeping and compliance with safety regulations.Perform routine radiation and contamination surveys, and respond to incident situations with skilled oversight.Liaise with contractors and internal teams to ensure radiography tasks are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.Support the preparation and execution of radiography work, often during evenings, nights, and weekends, to align with operational demands.Required Skills:GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C or equivalent)City and Guilds in Radiation Protection Grade I or similar qualificationMinimum of 3 years' experience as a Radiation Protection Technician or health physics monitorStrong knowledge of IRR2017 (Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017)Competent with IT systems and record-keeping requirementsAbility to operate effectively within safety protocols and manage radiation sources responsiblyNice to Have Skills:Level 2 Qualification in Radiological Protection or Health Physics MonitoringExperience performing radiation monitoring during radiographyPrior work on a nuclear licensed siteExperience managing inventories of radioactive sources and related equipmentShift work experience, including night and weekend shiftsPreferred Education and Experience:Relevant technical qualifications such as City and Guilds Level 2 or NVQ Level 2 in radiological protectionProven track record in a high-pressure safety-critical environment, preferably within nuclear or industrial radiography sectorsOther Requirements:Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekendsProven communication skills for liaising effectively with contractors and internal teamsCommitment to maintaining the highest safety standards and environmental responsibilityWillingness to work in a construction site environment with associated hazardsElevate your career in radiological safety and be part of a team that truly makes a difference.
