Design Engineer - Bespoke Metalwork

Are you an experienced Design Engineer or technical Product Designer looking to work on unique, bespoke projects rather than repetitive production work?Our client is a specialist metal fabrication workshop creating exceptional bespoke pieces for the residential, commercial and marine sectors. From custom furniture and sculptural lighting to architectural metalwork and intricate fabrications, they combine traditional craftsmanship with innovative engineering.The Role of Design Engineer: Working closely with Estimating, Production, Procurement and Project teams, you'll take projects from concept through to manufacture, producing high-quality technical designs that meet both client expectations and manufacturing requirements. Producing detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings and modelsDeveloping and refining designs throughout each projectCreating fabrication drawings and technical documentationSupporting estimating, procurement and production teams with technical expertiseLiaising with clients, suppliers and colleagues to ensure successful project deliveryAttending occasional client meetings and site visitsAs Design Engineer you will have: At least 5 years' experience in a Design Engineer, CAD Designer or similar manufacturing roleStrong CAD skills using Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similarA solid understanding of manufacturing processes and technical drawing standardsExperience interpreting architectural drawingsExcellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skillsThe ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively across departmentsWhat's on Offer? £40,000 - £45,000 salary depending on experience plus 31 days' holiday (incl.
