Are you an experienced Mechanical Team Leader, Mechanical Supervisor or Maintenance Team Leader looking for your next challenge?Do you enjoy leading engineering teams while remaining hands-on with mechanical maintenance, ensuring compliance and delivering exceptional service?We're supporting a leading facilities management and engineering organisation who are looking to recruit a Mechanical Team Leader to join their team based in Portsmouth .This is a fantastic opportunity to work within one of the UK's most unique and secure engineering environments, supporting critical infrastructure and leading a team of skilled engineers.What's the role all about?As the Mechanical Team Leader , you'll be responsible for leading the day-to-day delivery of planned, reactive and statutory mechanical maintenance across a large and complex site.You'll manage a team of engineers, providing technical guidance, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently, while maintaining compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance people management with technical support, helping to deliver high standards of maintenance, customer service and operational performance.Key responsibilitiesLead, motivate and develop a team of Mechanical EngineersProvide technical support and attend maintenance activities alongside your team where requiredPlan and coordinate planned, reactive and remedial maintenance worksEnsure all statutory and regulatory maintenance is completed in line with compliance requirementsCarry out quality assurance inspections and spot checks to ensure work meets company standardsMonitor KPIs and service delivery performance, taking corrective action where requiredSchedule labour, materials and resources to maximise operational efficiencyLiaise with internal stakeholders, contractors and customers to coordinate maintenance activitiesSupport mechanical maintenance across critical infrastructure, waterfront services and operational facilitiesPromote safe systems of work and ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislationEnsure all maintenance documentation is completed accurately using CAFM systemsDrive continuous improvement across engineering operationsWhat you'll needTo succeed in this role, you'll bring:Previous experience in a Mechanical Team Leader, Mechanical Supervisor or Maintenance Supervisor roleStrong mechanical maintenance background within Facilities Management, Building Services, Defence, Industrial or Heavy EngineeringExperience leading engineering teams and driving performanceKnowledge of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenanceExperience using Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systemsGood understanding of statutory compliance and safe systems of workStrong organisational, planning and communication skillsDesirableIOSH or NEBOSH qualificationExperience working within highly regulated or secure environmentsMechanical engineering qualification or apprenticeshipExperience managing KPI-driven maintenance contractsPrevious experience within Defence, Maritime or Critical Infrastructure environmentsAbout youYou're a natural leader who enjoys supporting your team while maintaining high standards of engineering excellence.You'll be:A strong people managerHands-on and technically competentOrganised and proactiveCustomer focusedSafety consciousCommitted to continuous improvement and delivering exceptional serviceSalary & Benefits25 days annual leave plus bank holidaysHoliday purchase schemeEarly finish every FridayCompany bonus schemeEnhanced pension scheme (up to 10% employer contribution)Life Assurance (4x salary)Cycle to Work SchemeGroup Income ProtectionEmployee Assistance ProgrammeOccupational Health & Wellbeing supportProfessional development and career progressionFree onsite parkingEmployee discounts and rewards programmeSecurity ClearanceDue to the nature of this role, you'll be required to undergo UK Security Vetting (UKSV) .
