Job Description

Indirect Tax Manager (FTC) | High-Growth Consumer Brand | London / Hybrid

\n

\n

The Client

\n

\n

Harmonic is delighted to be partnering with an established, global consumer goods business that sells its products worldwide across wholesale and e-commerce channels. With international growth continuing at pace, the business is midway through a significant finance transformation, including a new ERP implementation, and is investing in its Global Tax team to support the next stage of scale. This is a rare opportunity to shape indirect tax processes from the ground up inside a genuinely global, brand-led business.

\n

\n

The Role

\n

\n

This is a newly created role within the Global Tax team, providing EMEA VAT support across the business while leading and executing VAT-focused projects spanning compliance, process improvement and systems. Working closely with teams across the business, you will deal with cross-border indirect tax matters and omni-channel transactions across a primarily goods-based operation, and play a central part in delivering the global tax strategy. The role is both hands-on and advisory: a strong fit for someone who wants to build and improve indirect tax processes rather than simply maintain them, with an immediate focus on standing up new compliance processes through the ERP implementation across the UK and Netherlands.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
    \n
  • Manage the process and control environment to ensure timely and accurate compliance with EMEA indirect tax obligations.
  • \n
  • Design and deliver new indirect tax compliance processes as part of the ERP implementation and finance transformation, with a focus on the UK and Netherlands.
  • \n
  • Partner with accounting teams to build in-house capability and manage external outsourcing relationships.
  • \n
  • Review new and existing operations and strategies from an indirect tax perspective, including supply chain design.
  • \n
  • Monitor registration requirements and legislative developments across EMEA, communicating the impact clearly to the wider business.
  • \n
  • Contribute to the design and execution of indirect tax controls and processes that support and strengthen the global tax strategy.
  • \n
  • Support the design and review of indirect tax requirements for systems (e.g. Vertex) and wider transformation projects, working with IT to improve reporting capability and data quality.
  • \n
  • Promote VAT awareness across the business through knowledge sharing and training.
  • \n
\n

\n

Essential Experience

\n

\n
    \n
  • 5+ years of demonstrable UK and European indirect tax experience, gained within Big 4 / professional practice or a multinational business.
  • \n
  • Qualified Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) or an equivalent tax-focused qualification.
  • \n
  • Strong indirect tax knowledge in a goods environment, with exposure to cross-border and omni-channel transactions across wholesale and e-commerce.
  • \n
  • Able to develop initial views on complex problems independently, with a sense of urgency and a strong delivery focus.
  • \n
  • Strong organisation and time management, comfortable managing several projects at once.
  • \n
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • \n
\n

\n

Desirable Experience

\n

\n
    \n
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and / or Vertex.
  • \n
  • Experience delivering indirect tax workstreams within an ERP implementation or finance transformation.
  • \n
  • Additional European language skills.
  • \n
\n

\n

Package

\n

\n

Salary: £70,000-£75,000 + benefits (discretionary bonus, private medical insurance, group life cover, contributory pension)

\n

Location: London, hybrid working (minimum 3 days in office)

\n

Duration: 12-month fixed-term contract

\n

Start Date: Flexible, considering notice periods
