Job Description
Make a real difference in the lives of students as a dedicated School-Based Occupational Therapist in the Lorain, OH area for the upcoming school year. This part-time, contract role offers a rewarding opportunity to support students’ growth by helping them gain the functional and adaptive skills they need to achieve their educational goals.
You’ll collaborate with teachers, families, and fellow allied professionals to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every student can thrive. Your expertise in assessment, intervention, and teamwork will play a vital role in removing barriers to learning and fostering independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough occupational therapy assessments for students referred for services.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and measurable IEP goals.
- Deliver direct and consultative OT services in alignment with student needs and IEP requirements.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, special education staff, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and families.
- Recommend classroom accommodations, adaptive equipment, and environmental supports to enhance student success.
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and Medicaid billing as needed.
- Participate actively in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
- Monitor student progress and modify interventions as appropriate.
- Educate staff and families on strategies and tools for supporting student development.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Active Ohio Occupational Therapist License.
- NBCOT certification.
- Experience in school-based or pediatric settings is a plus.
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently within a collaborative framework.
