Job Description
Step into a pivotal role supporting students with visual impairments across multiple educational settings. In this contract, full-time position (with potential part-time flexibility), you’ll be an essential member of the Vision Related Services team, guiding best practices, mentoring peers, and advocating for the resources needed to ensure every child receives an exceptional educational experience. This is an itinerant assignment, traveling between schools and supporting students from Pre-K through Transition age. You will also play a leadership role, providing expertise to colleagues, troubleshooting challenges, and training both new and returning staff within the department.
Qualifications:
- Hold an active Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with proper endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments
- Master’s Degree in an education-related field
- At least 5 years of school-based experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Strong leadership qualities with demonstrated mentoring, coaching, and training abilities
- Thorough understanding of best practices in vision services
- Prepared to complete fingerprinting and background checks as required
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in a variety of school settings within the district
- Travel between assigned schools to support students from early childhood to transition age
- Mentor, coach, and offer training to both new and experienced staff within the Vision Related Services Department
- Collaborate closely with families, educational teams, and administration to ensure students’ needs are met
- Assist with advocacy and allocation of resources for vision services
- Stay current on best practices and compliance standards in the field
