As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), you will provide specialized instruction and adapt curriculum material, ensuring accessibility and success for your students. With a manageable caseload of 20 students and approximately 15 hours per week, your expertise will make a difference throughout the full academic year.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Prior experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired, including those with additional disabilities
  • Strong understanding of Braille, large print, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and educational teams
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional vision assessments and collaborate with school staff to tailor interventions
  • Provide direct and consultative services as outlined in students’ IEPs
  • Modify curriculum, teaching methods, and materials to support various access needs
  • Partner with general education teachers to create an inclusive classroom environment
  • Document and report on student progress, maintaining ongoing communication with families
